Duffy Day

On the 17th of February at 11.05am our school had a Duffy show. It was about a little girl named Ruby and she lived on a farm with her mum and dad, till one day Ruby's dad was called into the army to fight for New Zealand. This meant that Ruby was not able to go to school to learn how to read. She had to get her mother to read her father's notes that he sent to her. He  was ambushed and he died. So Duffy went back in time to WW2 and saved him and everything changed in the future.

Aunt's house

On Saturday all I did is clean and I didn't get paid for it, I did the dishes, beds, laundry, vacuuming (sometimes), and for all that I only got to go outside. It would be a bit nice to get paid at least $50. My luck finally changed when my mum and I went to my Aunt's house and there I helped made dinner. We had sausages, patties, steak, with some buns and macaroni salad.

Mars

Mars is the forth planet from the sun, and is reddish. It's surface is covered with rusty-coloured rock and dust.

Mars has a giant canyon that makes Earth's Grand canyon look tiny. The canyon on Mars is longer than the distance across the US.

Mars also has a very large volcano that is 3 times as big as Mt Everest. It is called Olympus Mons. Mars has a thin atmosphere surrounding and is not enough air for a human to breath.

The Blood Moon

Screenshot 2015-09-24 at 11.30.37 AM.pngA Blood moon known as a ‘tetrad’ will take place on September 28th, which is just the fourth lunar eclipse in two years.
The rare event will make the moon look up to 14% larger because it is as close to the earth than it will ever be in its elliptical orbit. However there is a chance that the eclipse won’t be visible from New Zealand and as always viewing always depends on weather conditions.
So why will the moon be a ‘blood’ red colour? When the earth eclipses a full moon the direct sunlight is blocked, but the suns rays still light up the moon. However this light has already travelled through the Earths atmosphere first, and hence causing the totally eclipsed moon to look red or brownish.
